After reading many blogs and deliberating over many topics, I finally decided to start off my own blog by setting right a misunderstanding of how this site began and what my goals with it were.

The aim of www.nadiavdmerwe.za.net, my career-orientated site, was to separate myself from the many CV’s that get sent to countless agencies. I wanted to leave an impression and talk-ability around my personal brand. I wasn’t happy with just a plain word document; I wanted to show that I have creativity and can think out of the box.

The concept was directed by the thought that being in this field I should be able to show advanced online competencies. I wanted to show initiative and illustrate my passion for social media by incorporating aspects of it into my digital resume. The video made use of tongue-in-cheek humour and a play on words to get people talking. Although it came across as being cheesy it has led to many comments and discussions. I realised that being a model people would see me as being a bit of an airhead, so I wanted to inform them that there is more to me than just a pretty face.

I am actually quite pleased with the level of interest I have been able to create with this site. As a recent graduate I feel I am taking steps in the right direction. I appreciate all criticisms and advice that the digital community have given me as this is the best way to learn.

SUMMARY

As a digital native I have an insatiable passion for web, mobile and social-media marketing. I am a creative, ambitious and hardworking individual. I think out of the box and constantly immerse myself with new digital marketing trends and technological advances. I pride myself on being self-motivated and driven – able to complete tasks with enthusiasm and to high delivery standards. With a solid foundation in marketing management and supplemented studies in the field of digital marketing my skill set and knowledge base makes me a valuable member of any team.

As a recognized local brand I have consistently engaged and built a relationship with the South African youth market. I have implemented and successfully rolled out a multitude of publicity driven initiatives, effectively promoting and engraining my brand in the minds of generation Y. In the process I have become an affluent influencer with the groups and fan pages I manage. My passion definitely lies in social media and I have utilized tools on popular social networks with great success.

During my recent internship at Cubic Ice , I project managed the development of their blog and consulted on social media for a variety of projects. During this period I became a certified Google adwords professional.

Im incredibly excited with the future possibilities this field has to offer and I look forward to becoming a vital part of your organization.
